Andrea L. Rogers
Andrea L. Rogers is Cherokee. She grew up in Tulsa,Oklahoma, but now lives in Mountainburg, Arkansas, where she is enjoying being a student, again, and spending time outside. She wishes she had more time to make art, to garden, and make food. Her three wonderful kids are the best things in her life. Her children’s work includes the book Mary and the Trail of Tears and her story, “The Ballad of Maggie Wilson” included in the anthology Ancestor Approved. Her Young adult collection, Man Made Monsters won the Walter Award in 2023. She has another YA book coming out in 2024, an Indigenous futurist novel called The Art Thieves. She has two picture books forthcoming in 2024. as well. From Levine Querido, Chooch Helped and When We Gather from Heartdrum.
Before returning to school as a PhD student, she graduated with an MFA from the Institute for American Indian Arts while working as a full time Art teacher. In all she taught art (all grades) and English (HS) in public schools in Dallas-Fort Worth for 14 years.
