Karen R, Harris

Karen R. Harris is the Warner Professor of Education at Arizona State University and has worked in education for over 40 years, from teaching fourth grade in a coal mining town in West Virginia to working with special education students ages 13–21 in Nebraska. She is the creator of the Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) model of instruction, most extensively researched in the areas of writing and reading for writing. Her work has focused on validating instructional approaches for diverse classrooms derived from integrating multiple theories and research that provide an evidence base for powerful instruction.
