Kevin Flanigan

Kevin Flanigan is a professor in the Literacy Department at West Chester University (WCU) in Pennsylvania. He works in the WCU Reading Center, where he and master’s degree students work with children who struggle to read and write. A former middle grades classroom teacher and reading specialist/literacy coach, his scholarship focuses on developmental word knowledge, effective vocabulary instruction, and literacy interventions. He has authored or coauthored articles in The Reading Teacher, Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, and the Journal of Literacy Research and is a coauthor of Assessment for Reading Instruction (Guilford Press) and the Words Their Way series (Pearson). He has also developed and taught Building a Better Vocabulary for The Great Courses.
