Kylene Beers
Dr. Kylene Beers is an international literacy consultant. She is the co-author with Robert E. Probst of many books including Disrupting Thinking; Reading Nonfiction; Notice and Note;and their forthcoming in November 2020 book the forthcoming Forged by Reading: The Power of a Literate Life. She is the author of the best-selling When Kids Can’t Read/What Teachers Can Do. Her research, speaking, and writing centers on social justice, creating empowered readers, and equity. She is a past president of NCTE, recipient of the CEL Leadership Award, and was the co-recipient, with Robert Probst, of the 2018 Teachers Choice Award for their book Disrupting Thinking.
