Sampurna Rawal

My name is Sampurna Rawal and I have been in the field of education for 25 years. I was an immigrant to America and learned to read in English with the support of Phonics and Phonemic Awareness Skills. Over the years, I have used the support of the five (to seven) pillars to teach students literacy as well as to advocate the proper teaching of literacy to teachers and principals in my current role as a Reading Coach with Universal Literacy. My biggest challenge as a Reading Coach is to encourage teachers to teach reading based on the principles of the Science of Reading. My goal is to ensure that we instill the knowledge and practice of Science Based Teaching of Reading in schools.
