Kathleen Rastle (@Kathy_Rastle) is a professor of psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research interests include the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying reading acquisition and skilled reading and the nature of writing systems and their relationship to reading skill. Rastle aims to translate her scientific work to create positive impacts on literacy policy and practice. Her article, “Ending the Reading Wars: Reading Acquisition From Novice to Expert,” cowritten with Anne Castles and Kate Nation, earned the Celebrating Impact Prize from the Economic and Social Research Council. Currently, she serves as editor of Journal of Memory and Language.
