Sharon Vaughn

Sharon Vaughn (@MCPER_EDU) is the Manuel J. Justiz Endowed Chair in Education and the executive director of The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at The University of Texas (UT) at Austin. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including AERA’s Special Education Research SIG Distinguished Researcher Award, and she was the first woman in the history of UT to receive the Distinguished Faculty and Research Award. Vaughn has authored more than 40 books and 350 articles that address issues related to research and practice focused on the reading and social outcomes of students with learning difficulties. She has worked nationally and internationally with educators from Japan, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Australia, and Singapore, and has conducted technical assistance in literacy for more than 30 state departments of education.
