Lindsay Osika

Lindsay Osika, an elementary district ELA specialist, is currently completing her 20th year in the public education system in Dover, DE. Osika attended Wesley College and earned a master’s degree in education. She continued her studies at Wilmington University, where she earned her reading specialist and school leader certification. Her experience includes a variety of roles including secondary teacher, elementary teacher, reading specialist, and instructional coach. She is currently the elementary district ELA specialist in the Capital School District, working directly with building teams to support implementation of research-based best practices in literacy. Additionally, Osika serves as the district mentoring lead, where she supports teachers as they begin their journey into education. In her role, Osika leads the instructional coaching team by providing professional learning, feedback, and support to building instructional coaches across eight schools. As a former building instructional coach for nine years, Osika recognizes the power that coaching has to positively impact student outcomes and uses that knowledge to guide her work with building coaches, principals, and teachers. She firmly believes that every student has the fundamental right to learn to read. This belief is central to the work that she does to ensure that every student in the Capital School District has access to high-quality literacy instruction grounded in the science of reading. Osika is a lifelong learner who is committed to bringing research to practice in order to create equitable outcomes for all students.
