Nicola Wedderburn

Nicola Wedderburn is the executive director of the International Literacy Association (ILA), where she has worked for more than a decade. Her varied leadership roles have spanned nearly every area of the organization, including marketing, publications, membership, partnership development, and customer service, in addition to overseeing the chapter and affiliate network.

Since taking the helm in early 2022, Wedderburn has guided the development of ILA’s new strategic direction, one that refocuses efforts on increasing the diversity of membership, fostering engagement within the network, creating stronger connections across the global regions, and expanding ILA’s suite of professional development resources. It was her belief in education as an agent of change, coupled with her passion for literacy and social justice, that initially drew her to ILA and now drives her leadership of the organization.
